Carbon or environmental platforms are used for managing the risk associated with securing carbon offsets and allowances. A platform consists of integrated modules that operate together to form a management view of risk and status of the portfolio. The components of the platform are depicted in the diagrams below They include a portfolio management tool which would evaluate the risk adjusted value of a portfolio in real time, a carbon purchase module which evaluates the allowance versus offset strategy, a project management tool for determining risk of offset purchases, a tool for credit risk management, and a model based market risk management tool for scenario analysis of risk.
